Questions

Okay, Marci, you're right. We need the internet. So to save me some time, will you all tell me what non-dialup internet service you have that will save me $$$? I called Qwest and it's about $35. What's cheaper? Help me move into the right decade.

And who wants to fix my blog page and get that darn widget off? I'm a computer idiot. I don't know how I created this blog in the first place - I had to get a lot of help. So I need a cuter boy-friendly background and a family picture. Any takers?? Come on Lyns...you know you want to!

On Being a Mother

The past few weeks have flown by. I spend my time staring at this sweet face...what's not to love?

Gavin will be four weeks on Friday. I can hardly believe it. He is teaching me a lot and I am slowly learning what he needs from me. I have also learned that getting stuff done around the house is harder than I thought. The whole day goes by and I wonder what I have to show for it. Hopefully other moms have had the same question. I guess a whole lot of baby loving and holding accounts for something. This past week he has been up a ton and wants to be held just as much. Just when I think I can put him down for a second, he thinks otherwise. So I'm just enjoying that. We watch a lot of TLC, Food Network, and HGTV together. Taking naps together is my favorite - even if when we're done our clothes are sweaty and stuck to each other. It's funny how I can stay up all night with him and still be just as happy and excited to see him in the morning. That must be a mom thing, too.

My life is totally different than it was before. I've spent the last seven years working and staying busy (in other ways) and the transition to home life has been quite a shift for me. I know that I want to be at home taking care of this baby - but it's been quiet and sometimes even lonely. That's not a sad thing - just a reality that I'm learning to adjust to. I'm getting more used to it every day.

My mom came on Sunday and just left today. I cried. Brian has been out of town this week so it was very nice to not be alone and have some company. Also, my house is the cleanest it has ever been. She truly is a saint - she cleaned things that have never been touched by human hands. (Well, not my hands anyway.) She made me feel more empowered and I know that I can do this. Brian will be home Friday afternoon, so we'll see how Gavin and I turn out then.

We had his naken newborn pictures taken last week - so I'll post those next. It's hard for me to keep up on this since I don't have daily access to the internet anymore unless I make a drive to the library, which doesn't always happen. So, until then, enjoy this sweet face!

More Gavin Pictures

Since we got back from the hospital, I've taken over 100 pictures. Yikes. I think I'm outta control.

But...It's okay. I just can't help it. You'll see why. And yes, perhaps I'm a little biased. :)

I'm just so in love with this furrowed forehead, these perfect thighs, owl-like lips, beautiful hair, watching Brian be the daddy and all. The last four days have run away with me. But we're just loving being home loving our baby. That's all we do. And it's wonderful.

Some of my favs from days 4, 5, and 6...

Introducing...

Our darling little boy!

Gavin Brian Robinson was born last night at 7:46pm. He weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces and is 19 1/2 inches long. Just perfect if you ask me!
Here are some of the early moments...

Gavin meets his daddy. Sigh.
The doctors

Our little family.

I think it's safe to say that our lives are changed forever. What an incredible experience that was to share with Brian. Everything went so smoothly. It was a textbook pregnancy and delivery. I just keep staring at the little kid having a hard time believing he is ours. He's been on an IV and oxygen to make sure his breathing is okay. The doctors and nurses tell me he is fine, but I hate not being able to roll him down here into my room. Hopefully by tomorrow they will let us have him here. Thanks to all for your interest, thoughts, prayers, and phonecalls! Love to you all!

Blogging from the Hospital

Yep, that's right. Here I sit at the hospital just killing some time. We've been here for about four hours and they tell me I'll move along quickly. Here's hoping!

Brian was out of town all week and he kept checking in with me via phone calls. Last night at about 10 I felt like things were different and called him to come home. He got home at midnight, we went on a morning walk (after NO sleep - waking up every 8 or 9 minutes doesn't help) and then headed down here at 11:00 am, pretty much expecting to be sent home. They kept us after all, broke my water, gave me an epidural, and life is good. Brian's just hanging out watching Zoolander and I'm eating ice chips. Yum.

This is my official plug for epidurals. I don't have any intentions of being Wonder Woman. Those of you who do, well, you're crazy - but you are official Wonder Women in my book. Contractions without were not my favorite.

Next post...our baby boy!
