More Gavin Pictures

Since we got back from the hospital, I've taken over 100 pictures. Yikes. I think I'm outta control.

But...It's okay. I just can't help it. You'll see why. And yes, perhaps I'm a little biased. :)

I'm just so in love with this furrowed forehead, these perfect thighs, owl-like lips, beautiful hair, watching Brian be the daddy and all. The last four days have run away with me. But we're just loving being home loving our baby. That's all we do. And it's wonderful.

Some of my favs from days 4, 5, and 6...

Introducing...

Our darling little boy!

Gavin Brian Robinson was born last night at 7:46pm. He weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces and is 19 1/2 inches long. Just perfect if you ask me!
Here are some of the early moments...

Gavin meets his daddy. Sigh.
The doctors

Our little family.

I think it's safe to say that our lives are changed forever. What an incredible experience that was to share with Brian. Everything went so smoothly. It was a textbook pregnancy and delivery. I just keep staring at the little kid having a hard time believing he is ours. He's been on an IV and oxygen to make sure his breathing is okay. The doctors and nurses tell me he is fine, but I hate not being able to roll him down here into my room. Hopefully by tomorrow they will let us have him here. Thanks to all for your interest, thoughts, prayers, and phonecalls! Love to you all!

Blogging from the Hospital

Yep, that's right. Here I sit at the hospital just killing some time. We've been here for about four hours and they tell me I'll move along quickly. Here's hoping!

Brian was out of town all week and he kept checking in with me via phone calls. Last night at about 10 I felt like things were different and called him to come home. He got home at midnight, we went on a morning walk (after NO sleep - waking up every 8 or 9 minutes doesn't help) and then headed down here at 11:00 am, pretty much expecting to be sent home. They kept us after all, broke my water, gave me an epidural, and life is good. Brian's just hanging out watching Zoolander and I'm eating ice chips. Yum.

This is my official plug for epidurals. I don't have any intentions of being Wonder Woman. Those of you who do, well, you're crazy - but you are official Wonder Women in my book. Contractions without were not my favorite.

Next post...our baby boy!

Just Waiting

No major news to report...

I've been cleaning my classroom. It looks so bare. But I am happy to know that I won't have to look through these supplies and reorganize them for a long time. That said, it is sad to think that my time with my 5th graders and dear friends at Manila is coming to an end. This is HUGE. Something you know will happen someday but just seems strange when it does. All you teacher friends understand, I'm sure.

I know I'm on to more wonderful things and am so looking forward to that. I look at my little countdown thing and think it's strange to see only 15 days left. If I have my way, it will be sooner. But, like I've told a lot of people, I'm not sure that Heavenly Father answers prayers with mixed messages... "Please let the baby come now...but, of course, whatever you think is best is good with me..."

For today I just want to hold my little boy and see his little face. I know children are more work out than in, but I still just want him here. I know I'll be tired and frustrated and confused and not quite sure what to do, but I'm ready.

And besides, I'm getting REALLY uncomfortable.

Nursery

Well...we're all done. Brian refinished (not built) the crib and the dresser as well. We inherited a side table, the lamp, and the corner piece. My parents helped us buy the chair and that's about it. It is still missing a few personal touches, like pictures, to make it look not so naked.

So everything is there....ALL EXCEPT THIS BABY! We're ready and waiting!

I made this cross-stitch in 8th grade. Funny, huh? My mom had it matted for me and then I framed it. I thought it fit perfectly.

The kid has a whole zoo! (I know - I have to move it when he gets here.) Thank you everyone for these as well as everything else you showered us with to get ready. People are SO generous and have helped us tremendously! Thank you, thank you!

Graduation Extravaganza

We've been graduating all weekend. LOTS of driving! Brian humored me in going to both - he never walked the first time. I told him it was all about the pictures. I thought they would make for a good scrapbook page! There is no shortage of pictures here!

On Friday, my parents came up and drive Brian and I up to Logan for his graduation. He graduated from Utah State as a Master of Science in Psychology.

The luncheon - this was a small group of people who went through the School Counseling program. It was very nice and personal and Brian even got up and said a few things.

The graduate!

My parents

Saturday we headed to Cedar City for my Southern Utah graduation. Mine was a Master of Education. We drove down with Brian's parents and met my parents down there.

My friend Melanie drove from St. George to visit just for a minute. It was so fun to have her there!

Cindy Winkel, Marla Long, and I all completed the program together. Love Manila-ites!

My parents and Brian's parents

Overall, it was a fun weekend. Although it took a lot of time to drive from the north end of Utah to the south, we figured the two of us wouldn't graduate a day apart again - so it was worth it. In fact, I'm okay if I never graduate again. I'm officially retiring. :) As for Brian...well, we'll see. He may need to rest for a few years. And I'm okay with whatever he choses for his own future. It was great to get it done before kids and other stuff! Hooray for education!

Not Getting Any Smaller

Well, here's the 8th month picture...taken at 34 weeks. Woah, Nellie!
