McKay

What an angel. Straight from heaven, I tell you.
Though I've only known this little boy for 21 days, I'm already madly in love with him. I've heard people say that they wondered if they could love the second child as much as their first. For me, I never questioned whether or not I could love him. I knew that I would love him the minute I held him. I LOVE babies - especially my babies. And what's not to love - that wrinkly skin, perfect smell, scrunched up legs and arms snuggled up to my chest - they really are a miracle. Yesterday my grandma looked at McKay and said, "How could people not believe in Diety?"
We're getting into a routine, McKay and I. He's usually having his wake times during the day instead of the night. I appreciate that. We're figuring out his feeding. When I took him to the pediatrician this week, I found out that I've been overfeeding the little guy. He was crying, so I fed him. He had gained a pound and a half in 2 1/2 weeks. Impressive, seeing how he's supposed to regain his birthweight in the first 2 weeks. So we did that plus a pound. Oops. For the past two days he's finally stopped throwing everything up - all of the extra that was going on top of what he really needed. Feed for less time less often. I like that.
I was sitting in my rocker the other night - or morning I should say - and decided that sitting there wishing I was sleeping instead wouldn't do me any good. I am one who loves her sleep, but since I'm awake anyway, I decided I might as well enjoy it. Knowing a little more than I knew the first time, I know how quickly this time will pass. He will not be a newborn for long. I'm certain hardly any time will pass and we will be celebrating his 1st birthday. For me, the decision is to enjoy and really cherish this time and those quiet moments with him when he is calm and awake at 3:00 am and just wants to talk. It really does go by so fast. That's not something that people just say. It is very true. I can sleep in August, right?
Thank you for joining our family, little man. I'm excited to get to know you and your own personality. It will be fun to see how you are different from your brother. I can already tell that you are.

It does go by too fast! I remember appreciating getting up more in the middle of the night with Blake much more. I knew it would be gone in the blink of an eye. You're doing great! Looking forward to holding McKay in a few weeks and having Gavin perform a few songs for me.

Nat your new pictures are so cute and your boys are darling. When I saw Gavin in that first picture laying on top of McKay I thought he looked just like Cade, there are some similarities for sure!

Natalie, you have such a beautiful family. I love the pics, did you take some of these or get a local prof? They are great! I love the paisley background. OK, so you oncce mentioned a place you could upload your blog to and they would put it into book form...what is that place? I have been going throuogh 3,000 pics plus from the last three years and I am already to give up. What is that link---it may be the one sane way to catch up on the last three years.
